How to organise custom fields into tabs

Learn how to create tabs and assign custom fields to them to group information within each entity in Sage Sales Management.

Written by Jon Trasobares

A tab groups custom fields within an entity. For example, you can bring together fields related to an account’s billing information in one tab.

Create a tab

  1. Open Sage Sales Management Admin.

  2. Select Fields from the side menu.

  3. Open Create and select Create tab.

  4. Under Value list, select the entity the tab belongs to, such as Accounts or Contacts.

  5. Under Description, enter the tab’s name.

  6. Use Multilingual if you need to add translations of the name.

  7. Select Save.

Value list and Description are mandatory.

The tab lets you group custom fields belonging to the selected entity.

Assign a field to a tab

You can select a tab when creating a custom field or change it for an existing field.

To assign an existing field:

  1. In Fields, select the relevant entity.

  2. Find the custom field.

  3. Hover over its row and select the pencil icon.

  4. Under Tab, select the group you want to use.

  5. Select Save.

Repeat these steps for the fields you want to bring together in the same tab.

If you do not assign a specific tab, the field appears in the general or default tab.

Check the grouping

Open a record or form for the relevant entity and check that the fields appear in the intended tab.

Assigning fields to a tab organises them but does not change their visibility conditions. Each field retains its configured device and environment settings.
