This article explains who the main user is, what their functions are, how the role is assigned, and how it differs from other users in the connector.

Main user concept in the Sage Copilot connector

When connecting Sage Copilot with Sage, you need to designate a main user within the connector. This person is responsible for managing and administering the integration.

What is the main user?

The main user is the person who acts as the administrator of the connected account between Sage and Sage Copilot. This doesn’t have to be the same person who performs the initial connection or installs the connector — it can be any user in your company who is assigned to this role.

Role of the main user

The main user has administration permissions within the connector and is responsible for the overall management of the account. With this role, you can perform actions that regular users don’t have access to, such as:

  • Inviting and managing users who will have access to Sage Copilot.

  • Configuring and maintaining the connection between Sage and Sage Copilot.

  • Monitoring the status of synchronisations and resolving potential issues.

  • Accessing all information in the application, including every connected account.

  • Managing permissions and access within the organisation.

In short, the main user acts as the System Administrator.

What about other users?

Other users can access and use Sage Copilot normally, but they don’t have administration permissions within the connector. This ensures that only the main user can make critical changes or view global data across all accounts.

Practical example

Imagine that in your company Laura, the finance manager, performs the initial installation of the Sage Copilot ↔ Sage connector. However, you decide that Carlos, the system administrator, will be the main user. In that case:

  • Laura performs the initial connection from her account.

  • Carlos is set as the main administrator within the connector.

  • From that moment, Carlos can manage users, monitor the application, and control the connection, even though Laura carried out the installation.
